- Neglected Books of the Bible--Not a class, not a lecture series, rather a do-it-yourself discussion group!
Mondays, starting October 24, 7-8:30 pm We are launching an open-ended discussion group, dedicated to studying selections from Nevi’im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings), those books which complete the Hebrew scriptures. The first five books of our Bible tell the story of how Israelites became a people who were chosen to receive the Covenant, while the sixth and seventh narrate Jewish history after our people settle in the Promised Land. We propose using Marc Brettler’s How to Read the Bible (JPS) and Marc Brettler/Adele Berlin, eds., Jewish Study Bible (Oxford University Press, 2003). Both paperbacks are widely available.
- How often our group meets will be decided at our first meeting. No previous Torah study is required. We ask only for a desire to learn and a willingness to participate in the dialogue. Please contact Marian Blanton at 479.7446 or
