Thursdays, 3 – 5 pm. Come for the challah. Stay for the mitzvah.
Chef Jeff Kirshbaum will be cooking meals for congregants in need or facing trying times. Come help him cook and deliver those meals, and learn a new recipe or two in the process! Challah will also be ready for delivery to people who are in need or are celebrating a simcha (a joyous moment), after 2 pm on Thursday, and on Friday until 3 pm and before or after services.

Mitzvah Kitchen challah recipe (makes 2 pretty good-size loaves)
2 1/2 lbs of bread flour 1 ½ t salt 2 ¼ t instant dry yeast (rapid-rise) 1/2 C mayonnaise 3 eggs 1/2 C sugar 1 3/4C water
Mix all dry ingredients in electric mixer. Add eggs and mayonnaise Slowly add water until dough is formed and knead for another 10 minutes with mixer. Let dough rise for at last 1 hour. Braid it, brush with 1 whole egg and pinch of salt. Let it rise for at least 30 minutes. Bake 350 degrees for ½ hour or internal temp is 180 degrees.
