On Shavuot, the Israelites received the Torah on Mount Sinai. Come celebrate and learn with us! Join Congregation Kol Shofar and the Osher Marin JCC as we rejoice together. See up close the new Contemporary Jewish Museum Torah freshly scribed by Julie Seltzer as it makes its tour through the community.
Cantor David Margules will lead us in Havdallah, followed by learning sessions led by Rabbi Michael Lezak and Rabbi Chai Levy. Dairy treats will be provided.

Come hear Anat Hoffman of the Israel Religious Action Center: February 10, 6:15 pm Shabbat services. She will be teaching on The Essence of Modern Israel in 10 Hebrew Words (you won’t learn in Hebrew School)
Anat Hoffman is a major leader for social justice in Israel. She is perhaps best known for never giving-up, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Anat was born and raised in Jerusalem and she served in the Jerusalem City Council for 14 years, leading the opposition to the right wing and ultra-Orthodox administration. She was a founding member of Women of the Wall, she is presently its chairwoman and she continues to be a tireless advocate for freedom of religion and women’s right. In 2002, Anat became the Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC), the legal and advocacy arm of the Reform Movement in Israel.

The Music and Soul of Argentina, featuring Cantor Diego Rubinzstein

This concert is a journey through different musical styles of Argentinean Jewish culture. Liturgical melodies, Israeli songs, the old melodies in Yiddish, Ladino, Latin Music and Tango will all be played in an innovative style, accompanied by a guitarist and percussionist this time.
Diego Rubinsztein is the pianist, Cantor and Musical Director of "Libertad" Synagogue, the oldest and most traditional in Buenos Aires. He is also a composer and musical arranger of all the music for the religious services. He produces CDs for cantors and musicians around the world, and musical shows and special events for the Jewish Community, such as national commemorations of Yom Hashoah and Yom Haatzmaut. He has recorded several CDs of Jewish spiritual music. His music has been heard in Israel, the U.S., and Latin America, and his tunes are sung in many synagogues across the world.
This time he returns to California to share the music and soul of Argentina, with his particular style. This concert is free and open to the public. RSVP to Pete at pete@rodefsholom.org or 479.3441.
