If you love Israel, but are not sure how to support her, we have arranged for three of the largest Israel advocacy organizations, AIPAC, J Street and the New Israel Fund, to come and present on three different Friday nights. We have asked each organization to provide us with a speaker who can tell us not only why Israel's well-being is important to us, but why we should support their specific advocacy group. The Shabbat services on these evenings will not have a sermon; instead the speaker will talk directly after the formal end to the service (to allow more time for each speaker to field questions and let people who have come to say Kaddish choose whether or not to stay).
Here are the correct dates:
- Friday, May 18, 6:15 pm Shabbat Services: AIPAC (America Israeli Public Affairs Committee)
- Friday, May 25, 6:15 pm Shabbat Services: J Street
- Friday, June 1, 6:15 pm Shabbat Services: NIF (New Israel Fund)

Anat Hoffman of the Israel Religious Action Center will be speaking on The Essence of Modern Israel in 10 Hebrew Words (you won’t learn in Hebrew School)
Anat Hoffman is a major leader for social justice in Israel. She is perhaps best known for never giving-up, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Anat was born and raised in Jerusalem and she served in the Jerusalem City Council for 14 years, leading the opposition to the right wing and ultra-Orthodox administration. She was a founding member of Women of the Wall, she is presently its chairwoman and she continues to be a tireless advocate for freedom of religion and women’s right. In 2002, Anat became the Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC), the legal and advocacy arm of the Reform Movement in Israel.
