Two models of learning
At Rodef Sholom, we have two models of religious instruction for our children: classroom-based learning and Kol HaMishpacha, whole family learning.  To learn more about Kol HaMishpacha, click here. To learn more about our classroom-based learning, keep reading.

Our Religious School is a warm and caring environment in which we teach and model skills and behaviors that enable full participation in the Jewish home, the synagogue and Jewish community life. Towards this end, we offer educational programs for children ages three through high school.

* Students in kindergarten through third grade attend Religious School once a week, either on Sunday mornings or Tuesday afternoons.
* Fourth through sixth graders attend both religious school classes and Hebrew classes each week.
* Seventh through twelfth graders meet weekly.

Please note:  6th and 7th graders also have a choice of a Shabbat-based (Saturday morning) learning program.

At each grade level we provide curriculum specifically designed with age-appropriate goals and learning objectives. In addition, students are offered electives such as trope (cantillation, or the musical key to chanting Torah) and youth choir. The study of Hebrew is woven throughout the curriculum.

Basic terms, concepts and the aleph-bet are introduced in the lower grades, while formal Hebrew study takes place in fourth through twelfth grades. Students participate in weekly services as well. Our teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from both within and outside our congregation. We are proud of our highly skilled, talented and dedicated staff.

As students progress through the educational programs at Rodef Sholom, they are immersed in the rich history, tradtions and literature of the Jewish people. We hope that upon the completion of this program, our students will feel inspired to participate fully in Jewish life, while continuing to further their Jewish dedication and become leaders in the Jewish community.
