All are welcome at our Tot Shabbat & Holiday services and programs

Everyone is welcome at all our services and programs, members and non-members, Jewish and non-Jewish partners/spouses alike. These programs and services are best for children ages two through kindergarten, though, older and younger children are welcome, too. Tot Shabbat meets every first and third Shabbat (Saturday) morning* from 9:30 am-10:15 am in our sanctuary at Rodef Sholom (September through June) and at special times to celebrate holidays (see below).

High Holy Day Services and holiday celebrations for young children
Connect with your children by experiencing the Jewish calendar together. We will introduce ideas about forgiveness, thanksgiving, miracles, laughter, and freedom in ways that are hands-on, experiential and fun.

Rosh Hashanah Children's Services for the Jewish New Year
• Rosh Hashanah Service, September 9, 2010, 1 pm
Bring in a sweet and happy new year together in a family friendly environment, where kids can be loud and parents can sing loudly, too. Share your wishes and blessings for your child with other families celebrating together.

Yom Kippur Children's Services for Reflection on Ourselves
• Yom Kippur Service, September 18, 2010, 1 pm

Come and find ways to talk about saying "I'm sorry," and forgiving with your child. Our service for families with young children will be a place for singing and thinking about how we can be our best selves in the New Year.

Sukkot Celebration
Sukkot Service & Party, September 24, 2009, 5pm
Join us for services outside in our shelter, our sukkah. We will celebrate Shabbat together, and wonder why God would ask us to build and live in a shelter where the rain can get in and we can see the stars. What does living in a sukkah allow us to do that living in a house does not?  RSVP to Pete at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Chanukah Candle Lighting and Blessings
• Chanukah Service & Party at Tot Shabbat, December 4, 2010, 10:30 am
Come for a once-a-year pajama Chanukah tot service experience where we will lie on the floor of the sanctuary, sing quietly, hear the story of the Maccabees and their courage, of course, light the Chanukiot (menorahs). Parents will have an opportunity to whisper to their children and give them special Chanukah blessings.

Purim for families with young children
• Purim Service & Party at Tot Shabbat, March 19, 2011, 10:30 am
Dress as a king or a queen (or Elmo) at our Purim costume party! Just expect a silly service because Purim is the time when we laugh at ourselves and everything that we take seriously during the rest of the year. Come and hear the story and be really silly in the sanctuary.
