Building Bridges: A Community Series on Antisemitism

אִם אֵין אֲנִי לִי, מִי לִי. וּכְשֶׁאֲנִי לְעַצְמִי, מָה אֲנִי

If I am not for myself who will be for me, and if I am only for myself what am I.

The Building Bridges community program initiative was established by a cohort of Rodef Sholom congregants and clergy to actively address rising antisemitism and identify the best ways to support our community during precarious times. As Rabbi Leo's Yom Kippur sermon explored, we have a variety of tools and resources available to our community.

This initiative serves as a vital platform for skill-building, connection, and learning. We bring together congregants and professional experts to explore challenging issues and discover new tools and resources—preparing our minds, our mouths, and our souls to face this moment with resilience.

We invite you to join us to build essential awareness, strengthen communal bonds, and learn how to effectively navigate today's increasingly complex landscape.

Responding to Antisemitism: Supporting Jewish Identity and Belonging in K–12 Schools

Sunday, Mar 8th 9:15a to 10:30aA Two-Part Series for Parents at Rodef Sholom, San Rafael Antisemitic incidents have risen sharply in the United States and around the world, increasingly affecting schools, social spaces, and online environments where children and teens spend much of their time. For many parents, this raises urgent questions about how to help their children understand what they are seeing and experiencing, and how to support them when antisemitism shows up directly or indirectly, including through conversations about Israel and Jewish identity. This two-part workshop series, facilitated by Morgan Blum Schneider, Director of the JFCS Holocaust Center, is designed to support parents of children in grades K–12. Across both sessions, participants will have the opportunity to investigate case studies and real-life scenarios most relevant to their own families and school communities. Together, participants will: Explore how antisemitism and bias appear in school and youth spaces Discuss ways to talk with children about identity, belonging, and current events Engage with case studies drawn from real school experiences Learn strategies for partnering with schools, teachers, and administrators Leave with practical tools, language, and resources to support their children Over the course of the two-part series, parents will build skills and confidence to help their children navigate challenging moments, advocate for themselves and others, and develop a strong sense of Jewish identity. The goal is for every family to leave better equipped to help create safe and inclusive school environments where Jewish identity is associated with pride and belonging, not fear.
