An Important Message about the Rodef Sholom Building Project from Board President David Rudnick
Exciting Milestone for Congregation Rodef Sholom
I am delighted to report that Rodef Sholom has submitted our final application for Design Review to the Marin County Planning Department. The submittal includes architectural, civil engineering and landscape drawings illustrating the scope, size, shape and character of our new sacred space. Our architectural team, along with specialized design consultants, have done an outstanding job of synthesizing the many comments we gathered from you during our town hall meetings into an inspired new home for Congregation Rodef Sholom.
This is big news. The acceptance of our application launches a Marin County planning and entitlement process that we expect will take 6-8 months to complete as our drawings are reviewed by County officials and agencies. Community outreach and conversations with our campus partners and neighbors began months ago and will continue throughout this process. Once we receive our entitlement, we will submit our Building Permit Addendum and Construction Drawings. These documents will serve as the approved drawings from which our contractor will build.
Our project remains on budget based on recent cost estimates, and our fundraising efforts are ahead of target with good momentum. With thanks to our generous donors, we have just passed the $20MM mark, and are now three quarters of the way toward our overall goal.
I would like to extend deep appreciation to Marc Press and Russ Pratt, who chair the Sacred Space committee, and Bruce Gribens and Martin Brotman, who chair the Capital Campaign. Their sustained and tireless work, enthusiasm, and commitment to the community is an inspiration and our success rests firmly on their shoulders.
We are now on the cusp of a new inspiring Jewish home, re-visioned and reimagined by this community, for this community. It is designed with the needs of synagogue life for the 21st century, and adheres to our mission, vision, and values. Stay tuned for continued updates in 2021 as we move closer to realizing our vision of a new sacred space for our Kehillah Kedosha.
With warm, best wishes during the Festival of Lights,
David Rudnick President, Board of Directors Congregation Rodef Sholom
