Donnas Isralsky believes that adulthood lends depth and an addded bonus - family! - to her upcoming B'nai Mitzvah. Mazel Tov to Donna and her son, Lucas Silberman, who will become B'nai Mitzvah on April 2.

What inspired you to become B’nai Mitzvah as an adult?
I grew up attending an orthodox synagogue and never really understood what we did and why.  After joining and attending Rodef Sholom Services I now feel connected to my religion and community.  This along with the fact that my 26 year old son decided to join me in this B’nai Mitzvah inspired me to do it now.

It would have been easier as an adolescent because I had a bat mitzvah in an Orthodox Synagogue when I was young.  As I really did not understand what I did and why I felt now was the right time to do an Adult Mitzvah.

How has your journey to become B'nai Mitzvah been surprising?
I am honored to be allowed to read from the Torah!
