Wednesday, September 22, 2021 16 Tishrei 5782

6:30 PM - 8:30 PMSanctuary and on Zoom

We invite you to come and learn about the Climate Crisis, our food system and steps we can take to protect and restore our environment as we welcome the Shmita year.

Doniga Markegard comes to ranching with a background in nature, tracking wildlife and permaculture. This has given her a perspective on the real risks that we are facing as a species. Doniga is the author of Dawn Again: Tracking the Wisdom of the Wild and Wolf Girl: Finding Myself in the Wild

Along with her husband and four children, Doniga owns and operates Markegard Family Grass-Fed LLC raising grass-fed beef, lamb, pastured pork and dairy supplying the Bay Area with local, nutrient dense foods. The family ranch leases land in Marin and the Bay Area spanning over 10,000 acres. Using the innovative, carbon-storing methods of regenerative ranching, she’s restoring the land she tends, bringing native grasses and wildlife back, leaving the soil better than they found it.

Doniga leads retreats, is an educator and speaker (Patagonia, Tesla, Bioneers Conference, Canyon Ranch) and is featured in several films, including Kiss The Ground.

Kiss the Ground, winner of 42 global awards suggests the solution to the climate crisis lies right beneath our feet. This is an inspiring and hopeful documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson, released just last year.

Kiss the Ground shows us how regenerating the world’s soils has the potential to rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies.  View the trailer HERE..
