Music at Rodef Sholom

Music infuses all of our services and much of our programming here. You are welcome to participate in our High Holy Day Choir, conducted by Rabbi-Cantor Elana Rosen-Brown,  join one of our many congregant musicians who pray with their instruments on Shabbat and Simchat Torah, or sing and jam in our informal Shabbat song session, Shabbat Unplugged, every First Friday with Toby as well as when our artist-in-residence, Dan Nichols, is in town.

Rabbi Elana can connect you with the opportunity that fits best for you. Email Rabbi Elana to inquire.

Dan Nichols, our artist-in-residence

Dan Nichols is one of the most influential Jewish musicians in North America, and his music has become an important part of the Reform Jewish movement. Songs like "L'takein (The Na Na Song)," "B'tzelem Elohim," "Kehillah Kedoshah," and "My Heart is in the East" are some of the most popular songs in Reform Judaism today.  A classically trained musician, Dan's versatility and experience as a teacher and songleader appeal to all ages.

We are proud to share Make Me a Sanctuary, a musical work based on T'rumah, Exodus 25:8. The piece was commissioned by Rodef Sholom and created by Cantor Jonathan Comisar, in honor of Cantor David's 30+ years of service to our community.
