Tuesday, December 16, 2025 • 26 Kislev 5786
7:00 PM - 9:00 PMRodef Sholom Sanctuary
Join Rodef Sholom clergy and Middle Meets for a special film screening and conversation focused on proactive dialogue among Israeli and Palestinian college-aged students. The event will center around the first screening of In the Middle, a 20-minute film that follows a group of Middle Meets students as they travel to the Vatican to promote constructive dialogue across difference.
Following the screening, we will be joined virtually by:
- Professor Elitzur Bar-Asher Siegal (Hebrew University’s Faculty of Humanities and Middle Meets facilitator)
- An Israeli student and a Palestinian student involved in the initiative.
This will be a rich and timely discussion. We invite you to bring your questions and learn how Middle Meets’ critical work can be translated to fostering dialogue on college campuses closer to home.
More About Middle Meets
Middle Meets is dedicated to promoting a richer, more inclusive student-led discourse to encourage understanding and intellectual growth in order to address hate speech across the political spectrum. The initiative was developed in response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, by a group of Hebrew University of Jerusalem students in response to the current situation in the Middle East. Middle Meet dialogues include Jewish and Palestinian Israeli students from various universities & academic backgrounds in Israel, as well as American students.
What is the Let's Talk About It Series?
Let’s Talk About It is a new Congregation Rodef Sholom initiative designed to help our community build essential skills, workshop complex ideas, and explore new possibilities for understanding and navigating difficult Jewish communal issues. In this fall series, we invite you to join our rabbis for a facilitated and structured exploration of charged topics. These sessions are for members-only: please register below to attend these in person sessions!
What to Expect in Each Session:
In each program, we will introduce and practice a new tool for constructive dialogue and compassionate listening. The conversation will then immediately utilize these new skills to explore pressing issues.
Topics in the Fall Series Include:
- The landscape of Jewish media.
- Reform movement positions on the Israel-Hamas war.
- Antisemitism, allyship, and solidarity work.
All of our voices, thoughts, and questions are important—we encourage you to join us for one session or all!
