Parenting during the middle and high-school years can be a challenging and confusing endeavor. As part of our focus on supporting our youth, Rodef Sholom is hosting a four-part education series for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of tweens and teens (though parents of younger kids are welcome too!) Join us for one, some, or all events. 

Part Two: Dr. Sarah Lowenthal will discuss an overview of eating disorders, including warning signs, what to do if you are concerned about a loved one, and how to access care.  She will also review the general goals and modalities of treatment. 

Dr. Lowenthal is a Board Certified Family Physician specializing in eating disorder care for children, adolescents and adults.  Utilizing a social justice, Health At Every Size (HAES) lens, Dr. Lowenthal cares for individuals of all genders, sizes, shapes and abilities and at any stage of their recovery.


Dr. Lowenthal completed medical school at the University of Chicago and residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).  She is one of few primary care physicians nationwide who has been designated by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) as a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) as well as an IAEDP-Approved supervisor for other professionals in the field (CEDS-S).  She is a former Medical Liaison to and Board Member of the IAEDP SF Bay Area Chapter and a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders.
