Sacred Space, Sacred Time: Explorations in Jewish Text and Synagogue Design with our Clergy and Architects

Tuesday, June 11, 2024 5 Sivan 5784

7:00 PM - 9:00 PMCongregation Rodef Sholom

No holiday brings us in touch with the concepts of sacred space and sacred time more than the holiday of Shavuot. Congregation Rodef Sholom and Congregation Kol Shofar are delighted to partner to create an immersive Shavuot experience for adults to gather, learn, and discuss the meaning of sacred space and sacred time. Join Rabbi Paul Steinberg, Rabbi Elana Rosen-Brown, Cantor David Margules, and architects Steve Rajninger and Susie Coliver for an evening of learning and prayer. The evening will include conversation with the architects of Kol Shofar and Rodef Sholom who will explore the concept of creativity, design, and sacred space as well as an exploration of these concepts in Torah, Talmud, medieval Jewish texts, and modern Jewish philosophy. We at Rodef Sholom, look forward to warmly welcoming Kol Shofar to our new sacred space in shared celebration and friendship.

On the pilgrimage festival of Shavuot, when we celebrate the receiving of the Torah, it is customary to stay up for some (or all) of the first night of the holiday to study the Torah (known as Tikkun Leil Shavuot), and savoring the sweetness of its teachings by consuming dairy desserts such as cheesecake and ice cream. Dairy snacks and refreshments will be served.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
