6:15 PM - 7:30 PMRodef Sholom Synagogue

In honor of Mizrahi Remembrance Month, we are proud to present a series of programs that explore on the rich history and culture of Jewish communities around the globe. Join us to kick off this series at this special Shabbat, where we will hear from Gina Waldman, the co-founder and President of JIMENA, a non-profit organization headquartered in San Francisco. JIMENA is dedicated to the preservation of Mizrahi and Sephardi culture and history, and seeks to educate the public and advocate for Jewish refugees from the Middle East.

Did you know that 100 years ago, Jews were the majority population in Salonika, Greece? Does it surprise you to know that Jews came to Argentina in the 16th century? The majority of Jews in the US have roots in Ashkenazi Eastern European countries. But many Jews come from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. Join us to take a look at the fascinating history and culture of Jews from Morocco, Argentina, Libya, and Hong Kong, communities you may know little about! We'll be hearing from members of our Rodef Sholom community who will share their experiences and perspectives about growing up in their Jewish homelands.
