Exploring Judaism

Exploring Judaism: An Introduction

This course is organized around the three pillars of Judaism mentioned in the Mishnah: Torah, Prayer, and Acts of Loving Kindness/Social Justice. We also cover the Jewish calendar, Shabbat practice, and holidays. This class series welcomes beginners and all those looking to (re-)ground themselves in the basics of Judaism.

Please email Heidi Paul with questions and/or if you wish to be added to the email list for information about the next session (dates tbd).

The Good Life: Jewish Philosophy through Wisdom Literature
This course was a wildly popular Sunday morning addition to our learning opportunities.

Please check back for when next course will begin.

In this class we will explore the books that are the closest the Hebrew Bible gets to philosophy: Job, Ecclesiastes, and Proverbs, along with a few additional sources. These books explore questions of fundamental meaning and purpose including "What is suffering?", "How do I live a good life?", "How do I cultivate a heart of compassion?" and more. Our time together will also extend beyond the text to include wisdom practices and ritual that engage both the mind and heart.
