Kehillah Groups/Small Groups

Rodef Sholom sponsors many successful Kehillah (Small) Groups that are focused on life stages, shared interests or needs, social justice, etc.
Examples include Wise Aging, Mussar Groups, Women's walking groups and much more. These small groups have become meaningful ways to bring people together, especially during the pandemic, since small groups can easily be moved to virtual meetings as needed and can reach people who might otherwise feel isolated. Another value many have found from these small groups is ongoing connections among participants after the formal group meetings conclude.
Here are the new Kehillah Groups we are offering this Fall/Winter:

Song Circle with Marv Zauderer

Wise Aging - FULL
More groups will be offered in the spring

Beginning Sundays in October
Developed by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS), this initiative is designed to help participants explore the years beyond mid-life as a unique opportunity for growth and discovery. These groups will meet twice a month for eight sessions and will use discussion, teaching, support and mindfulness to meet the social, spiritual and emotional needs of all participants. The group will use the book Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit by Linda Thal and Rachel Cowan as grounding for their discussions.

Midlife Exploration for Women - FULL
More groups will be offered in the spring

Sundays beginning October 17
This group should resonate with women who are interested in connecting with peers to explore this period of life as a unique opportunity for growth, discovery and connection. Women age 50’s-60’s-ish, recent (not brand new) empty nesters, in a life phase of thinking “Now me, now what?” And those who are interested in exploring sense of self and well-being in this phase of life will enjoy this group. Group will use the book Life Reimagined: The Science, Art and Opportunity of Midlife by Barbara Bradley Hagerty as grounding discussions. This group will meet on Sunday mornings, twice monthly from 10:00am to noon for eight sessions (a mix of on-line and outdoors in person gatherings - exact plan to be determined by the group).

Group Spiritual Guidance - FULL
Five successive Sundays: 9:30-11:00am on Zoom beginning on Sunday, October 17
Are you looking to grow spiritually, to connect more with the divine? Does God seem distant or non-existent to you? Religious practice can point the way to a deeper connection, but it cannot define it. Each seeker must find that connection for themselves. In our small group, we will gently explore ways to get closer to the divine, ourselves, and to each other. We will take time and space to practice pausing and building awareness through group and individual practices. The divine is in and all around us, it is up to us to nurture the connection. Contact congregant Lynn Roy with any questions at 415-225-8387.

Please select the group(s) that interest you and we will be back in touch with more details. If you have a group you would like to start please reach out to Moji at moji@rodefsholom.org
